The Speeding Ticket
Lessons Learned & Feedback
So very true i learned how to drive a few months back but lately i also
started speeding especially when i am late never thinking what can happen even
with no licence but after this email i now realise how many pedestrians lives is
in danger because of people who don't care and obey the rules of the road thanks
man i will forward this to my email buddies
I am a speeding driver myself; I am always late for everything. I consciously
make a decision that I will be on time if I drive fast. Fortunately for me, I
was never involved in an accident that took a life, but I sometimes listen to my
conscience and it tells me one day it will happen to me. The thought of me one
day on a wheel chair or even dead, makes me come to my senses. Thank you for
this daily wisdom because it raises another issue, it might not be me but I may
cause an unbearable pain to a parent that could loose a child, or to a child
that could loose a parent due to my selfishness. Even to my children, I have
been so selfish. I was just thinking of myself and not about the impact that may
be caused by my recklessness.
Ouch! Johan.
What a strike on my back. I just came from a Men’s Retreat in the weekend and
this is just another emphasis on what the retreat was about.
- being accountable stewards and knowing that we “Men” are the back-bone of society (its
good and its ills).
Now with the story it reminds me how easy it is to LIE, in defence of our
guilty acts. I have done it many times.
All Jack was really thinking of was not his family, not the supper and all
that, but HIMSELF, his reputation as a church-man.
Self-centeredness only leads to LIEs and all ills. May God help us to think
of others more than ourselves….
Just thinking back, all Jack wanted was BOB to lose his reputation (not
applying the law) so that he (Jack) could safe his.
Thanks for sharing again….it’s a sobering piece, esp for men who profess God,
as they can’t guard a reputation at the expense of other lives.
I have learnt the lesson to be aware of the consequences of your actions. By
speeding that guy can cause an accident,
I have also learnt a lesson of not being self absorbed all the time.
1st lesson: speed kills
2nd lesson: it’s hard to forgive but we have to, for it forgiveness) shall
set us free.
A while back I wrote to you with a heavy dilemma. I’m glad I followed your
steps to recovery, now I am a changed person and, most importantly, I forgave
a person who did me wrong and then I forgave myself.
3rd lesson: life is too precious, preserve it any way you can. If I could I
would bring back my grandmother who passed away last July. I miss her a lot. I
keep thinking: I should have done this and that but it’s too late now.
Thanks for this, Johan. Sometimes we take life for granted and we forget
minor but important things that make life worth living.
Today I learnt that we have to embrace every minute, every second we have
with loved ones because it may be your last. Also to think about the
consequences of your selfishness especially on the roads.
