Who is Johan Campbell?

I was born at a very early age at n'Kana, near Kitwe Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) in fact I was so young that I can't even remember it happening and have to rely on my mother's testimony that it actually happened.

I grew up (some might dispute this point) mostly in the Plumtree area of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). I started school at Allan Redfern in 1961. This was a very big school, I mean there were at least 23 pupils from Grade1 to Standard 5, well Plumtree was a very small town.

I finished school at Plumtree High writing my "O" Levels in 1972 and then joined Internal Affairs as a Civil Servant (again there are those who might say "not so civil" but then you can't keep everyone happy.)

In June 1979 I emigrated to South Africa and have lived here ever since. I now live in Nigel, Gauteng.

I got married to Linda (I had to ask her twice before she agreed) on the 9th December 1978 and we have 2 children PJ (Peter John) and Jenny (Jennifer Lynn)

My working career in South Africa has been very varied, starting off as an Assistant Personnel Officer at Western Areas Gold mine, where amongst other things I got to stand 3.6 KM underground. Let me tell you, that's a looooong way down.

I sold awnings, installed garden irrigation systems, sold agricultural seed and chemical, raised cattle and chickens (and perhaps a little hell) did a spell as the territory manager for an international tractor company, produced top quality organic fertilizer at my company "Natures Own", sold Life Assurance (passed my ILPA exams first time) and then got into the business of consulting.

For me this was a natural progression. In my younger days I gave people K*K that wasn't very profitable and often landed me in K*K so I stopped doing that, sort of, and started putting it in bags and selling it as "organic fertilizer". This was a little bit better and a lot more profitable, but too hard and smelly. There has to be a better way, I thought, and then it struck me, why not just talk K*K and get people to pay for it. EUREKA that was it, a lot more fun and much more rewarding. Getting gardens to grow was great, getting minds to grow is incredible. (watch this video clip to see what I mean)

Now I focus on personal and business development through seminars, training and consulting.

I am the author of “a practical guide to employee management” a do-it-yourself Human Resources guide, published by Butterworths, and "Thoughts to live by" a compilation of inspirational and empowering messages. (now also an e-book).

I also send out a regular inspirational message Living Your Best Life with Instant Inspirations & Timeless Wisdom to subscribers world wide.

My purpose in life is to help other people become aware of the unlimited potential that they have bottled up inside of them - because only when they are aware of this enormous reserve of potential will they be able to access it and use it.
