Now that's a bold statement to make, especially since it seems to fly in the face of so many of our set beliefs. We hear it all the time. Knowledge is power. Get an education and you'll get a job. Well I am going to tell you that knowledge is not power, it never has been and it never will be.
Some things to be aware of:
Don't confuse qualifications with competence. Qualifications are all too often merely paper based. Competence is always experience based. There was a time that to be Qualified meant that you knew how to practically apply the knowledge that you had acquired. Sadly today qualified means that you have a piece of paper that shows that you know how to absorb and regurgitate information but not that you understand how to practically apply the information.
You do not get paid for what you know. You get paid for how effectively you use what you know. Knowledge is wasted if it does not translate into practical action. Your responsibility is to ensure that you learn how to apply the knowledge that you have. What you can do with what you know is much more important than what you know.
Do not confuse education with intelligence. We have become very "snobbish" and seem to think that if a person has not had a "formal education" then they are not intelligent. Nothing could be further from the truth. I know some very educated people who are really stupid in that they do what they know not to do and they do not do what they know to do. I also know some "uneducated" people who are very intelligent. The trouble with some educated people is that they don't think about things because they think that they know about things whereas intelligent people always think about things because they know that that is the only way that they will get to know about things.
Do not confuse education with schooling. The world should be your classroom and everyone and everything should be your teacher. You can be extremely well educated without ever having set foot in a school room and you can be totally uneducated even though you have spent years in a school room. Education is a do it to yourself process. You have to choose to learn, and you have to choose to apply the lessons and then learn the lesson from the results you get.
True knowledge does not come from books. Information comes from books. Knowledge comes from testing the information that you have and then learning from the results.
So I repeat myself Knowledge is not power but I add without knowledge there can be no power. Knowledge is potential power it's the practical and effective application of knowledge that is power.
So how are you going to turn your knowledge into POWER today?
To live your best life be true to the YOU, that you want to be.
Live with passion. Change your life from making a living to making a difference.
Live up to the reputation that you want to have.
