It is the duty of each generation to ensure that the next generation achieves more than they did. Each generation merely creates a foundation on which the next must build.

We must learn to encourage our children to stretch themselves, to reach out for bigger goals but all too often in an effort to "protect" them we try to stop their development. This was illustrated very clearly by my Mother in Law.

I have just discovered an indoor swimming pool close to my home and since I like swimming and I like to keep fit I have started swimming again. She asked me how it was going and when I told her how many laps I had swum her immediate reaction was "Take it easy, don’t overdo it" This is not the way to encourage growth.

Evaluate the way that you talk to the people around you, are you "Bringing them back to earth" or are you "Helping them to fly"
