27 years of having an affair

Today I celebrate 27 years of having an affair with a married woman.

Now before you get too shocked let me explain that the "married woman" is my wife Linda.

Some 29 years ago I was driving down the street in my home town of Plumtree when I saw this really cute "chick" walking down the road. I had no idea who she was but I did know one thing, I knew I was going to marry her and two years later I did.

Now the one thing I never wanted was an "ordinary" marriage. I had watched married couples and for far too many of them the excitement of the courtship had turned into the burden of marriage, something that they had to put up with. Suddenly they were more concerned with paying the bills and raising the children than they were with each other.

I also noticed that some of them had lovers and that they behaved very differently with their lovers so I made up my mind that I was going to remain Linda’s lover. So today I can say that we celebrate 27 years of honeymoon and we look forward to the next 100.

Some things that I have learned.

Marriages are made in the heart, not on paper or in a ceremony.

The best thing that parents can do for their children is to love each other.

You must make a constant commitment to stay in love.

Constantly remind yourself of what you like about your partner.

Don’t divide or allocate tasks, if it needs to be done, do it.

Always support your partner in public.

Take every opportunity you get to tell your partner how special they are to you.

Take every opportunity you get to show your partner how special they are to you.

Never be afraid to let other people know that you are in love.

A good lover doesn’t need a new partner every night. A good lover treats their partner like a new lover every night.

You can stay passionately in love with one person for 27 years.
