Be present

The first requirement of success is "showing up". You can’t win the race if you are not at the starting line. You can’t win the lotto if you don’t buy a ticket. Now while showing up is essential, it is not enough. Starting is necessary but it is how you play that determines the result.

When you show up, show up body, mind and soul. In other words be present, fully present. All too often we are not fully involved in what we are doing. We talk to someone but our minds are elsewhere, we just go through the motions not really paying attention. We are busy with a task but we are thinking about all the other things that have to be done or what we would rather be doing. We are there in body but our minds are somewhere else and our heart just isn’t in it.

You are not likely to be successful at achieving your purpose unless you learn to be present, to discipline yourself to focus on the job at hand. You can’t do everything but to live successfully you must learn to do everything you do, properly.

When you talk with someone pay attention, be present in the conversation.

When you do a task, be present, do the job to do the job.

Wherever you are and what ever you do, be present.
