Be Flexible

If what you are doing isn’t giving you the result that you want then stop doing it and try something else. Whatever you do don’t keep on doing what you are doing, you will just frustrate yourself. Accept that you can’t dig a hole in a different place by digging the same hole deeper.

We have a tendency to get hooked on process and ritual and often loose sight of purpose. We become controlled by habit and no longer consciously consider our actions. Our battle cry becomes "But we’ve always done it this way"

Now that is possible, but if what you are doing is not giving you the result that you want then you have to step back and evaluate the situation, because it is a sure sign of insanity to expect a different result from doing the same thing.

First step is to clarify your purpose. Why are you doing this? What is the result that you want? It is essential that you are clear about your expected outcomes as your actions should be outcomes driven.

Once you are clear on what you want to achieve you must now ask "Why am I doing it this way?" "Why am I doing it now?" "If I do this, this way and at this time will I get the result that I want?"

Learn to be fixed on the outcome and flexible on the process. You grow by trial and evaluation. You learn from what worked and ask "How can I do it better?" You learn from what didn’t work and ask "How can I do it differently?" or "What else should I do?"

We live in a world that is constantly changing, the ability to be flexible is essential if you are to keep up and critical if you want to grow.
