Understanding Selfishness

If you are like most people then you have most likely been taught that to be selfish is bad. But you'll only believe this if you do not really understand selfishness.

Everyone one this planet does everything they do for selfish reasons. Everything we do, we do either to get something or to avoid getting something. There is always a presumed personal benefit underlying every action.

Since just about everything that you need you have to get from someone else it's a good idea to understand selfishness.

There are 2 types of selfishness.

There is Stupid Selfishness which is when you try to get what you want at the expense of other people. This is short-sighted, unsustainable, unacceptable and will lead to conflict.

Then there is Smart Selfish which is when you try to get what you want by helping other people get what they want. This is far sighted, sustainable, advisable and leads to co-operation.

So from today evaluate the effectiveness of your selfishness.
