So many times I hear people tell me, "I've been this way for so long now I
can't change." Some people truly believe that they can't change. They
believe that their circumstances will determine their future. The great news
for these people is that "Yes you can change, you can take charge of your
life no matter what your circumstances" The issue is not whether you can, or
can't, change but whether you really want to change.
You can redesign yourself, so design the perfect person, the person that you
would really like to be. What attitudes do you wish to have? What emotions
do you want to control? What behaviour do you want to change? Decide, and
then act the part. Believe that you can change, and you will.
Let me tell you a story about "the Thief and the Princess"
A long time ago, in a kingdom far away, there lived a King and a Queen. They
had a beautiful daughter and it was time for her to be married. She decided
that she would marry the kindest and most loving man in the kingdom. A
message was broadcast declaring the princess' intention.
The message got to an outlying village, and there lived a person of most
disreputable character, a thief and a cheat. He decided that he would fool
the princess into marrying him then he would have access to all the riches
of the kingdom. So he went to a local craftsman and told him to make a
beautiful mask that he could wear. The mask was to make him look kind and
loving.
Wearing his mask the thief went to the palace and was soon able to charm the
princess into thinking that he was indeed the kindest most loving man in the
kingdom. The princess agreed to marry him, but the King set the date for a
year later.
So for a whole year the thief had to play the role of being a gentleman, of
being kind and courteous to everyone, of being loving towards his new
"family". As he played the role so his character changed and he was no
longer the thief from the village but now a gentleman at the palace.
As the time for the wedding grew nearer he knew that he could not lie to the
princess, whom he now truly loved, anymore. So one day he sat down with her
and confessed his plot and said that he could not marry her. The Princess
was very disappointed for she truly loved him. She was grateful that he was
honest with her and would be sad to see him go, but before he went she asked
to see his real face. Oh No! he cried you would then hate me. But she
pleaded until he relented and removed the mask. The princess gasped in
surprise "Why did you have a mask made that looks exactly like your real
face?"
The princess forgave him for having tried to trick her and they were married
and lived happily ever after. The moral of the story is that you can change
your life by changing your behaviour so "Choose the image that you
want then live it"
To live your best life be true to the YOU, that you want to be.
Live with passion. Change your life from making a living to making a difference.
Live up to the reputation that you want to have.
