The Importance of understanding the role of your title.
There is tremendous power in words and in the way that we use them. Words create pictures in our minds and then we respond to those pictures and act in accordance with the meaning we give them.
This is very evident in Politics and leads to very bad government.
Just think about it, political parties always want to seize power so that they can rule. If they happen to take over control of the government then they are in charge. The problem is that not one of these words, power, rule, control, in charge, in any way describe what government is really about. These words describe dictatorship.
We need to realign our thinking so that it delivers the results that the position we hold intends.
We should not seize power we should accept responsibility.
We did not take over control we were appointed to deliver.
We should not rule and control we should guide, maintain and enhance.
We are not in charge, we are in service.
Just as we did not "inherit" the earth from our forefathers, they passed it into our care to hold in trust for future generations so the real intent driving all governments should be to build and pass on.
Unfortunately as we all too often see, because the belief is that "we are in POWER because we took over control" many governments are actually a conglomerate of dictatorships with each little dictator doing their best to get as much as they can for themselves and bad luck to those coming along behind, all they get is what's left and that just gets progressively less until there is nothing left.
These same people expect you to respect their "Position" and their "Title" yet they do not.
This behaviour is not limited to politicians. It is unfortunately prevalent in all walks of life so I think that it is up to each one of us to ensure that we are being true to our "Position" and our "Title" Think about the meaning, and the intent, of the position and/or title and ask yourself if you are fulfilling the intent of this title. Evaluate your behaviour to determine if you are respectful of your position.
Your responsibility is to be a credible witness to your position and your title by living up to the intent and by building a strong foundation for those who follow.
To live your best life be true to the YOU, that you want to be.
Live up to the reputation that you want to have.
