Heart Prints

Whatever our hands touch upon

retains our fingerprints!

On walls, on furniture

On doorknobs, dishes, books.

There is no we can avoid.

this trace of our identity.

Wherever I shall roam today

I'll strive to leave my heartprints!

Heartprints of compassion

Of understanding and love.

Heartprints of kindness

And genuine concern.

My heart may touch a lonely neighbour

A runaway daughter

Or an anxious mother

Perhaps an aged grandfather.

I'll go out today searching for another

place to leave my heartprints.

And if someone should say,

"I felt your touch,"

May they also sense the love

that is deep within my heart.
