I am not very corporate, am I?

i just need a bit of help. not sure if you could help me

wen i moved to uk, i went from working in a bar to being a customer account manager for a finance company.

now, i have started a job as a data consultant, thing is, i started this week monday, and the sales manager has handed all his accounts over to me, these 20 clients are the companies biggest clients that bring in over a quater of a million £ each yr.

Nex week i am going to london to meet the vip clients that only the manager deals with, i was told its the first time the company has ever taken such a big risk to put a new consultant in this department dealing with such big accounts as it would mean a huge loss for them if i messed it up.

only thing is, you know me very well, im not very corperate am i? so i started reading a book, called GOALS! by Brian Tracy. its about how to get what you want faster than you thought possible.

I have 4 months to prove i can do this, and im bricking it. I need some help as to how and when to make myself more abel to believe i can do this.

I have been in a job for almost 2 years now with 5 men that have been breaking me down slowly, chipping away at my self confidence and belief.

could you have any advice?

Well the first thing I want to do is to congratulate you on making the decision to take charge of your future, very few people ever do that. they are too busy complaining about how tough life is.

I am impressed that you have started to read good books. I have long been a fan of Brian Tracy and I have a lot of his material. I am sure that you will get good advice there.

Some advice. Keep watch over your image

> Watch the way you dress – Is it suitable for the work you are doing? Does it portray a professional image?

> Watch the way you speak – Do you use slang? Is the language that you use appropriate for the situation? Do you speak clearly so that people can hear and understand you? Do you give others a chance to speak?

> Watch the way that you listen – Do you pay attention to what others are saying? Do you make sure that you know what they are saying before you answer?

> Watch the way that you write – Do you write neatly, can others read what you have written? Do you write proper English without slang and abbreviations? It might, and I do say might, be ok for sms and facebook but has no place in business.

> Watch the way you learn – Do you take the time to learn about the business you are in? Do you take time to learn from others who are in the same business that you are in?

> Watch the way that you behave – Does your behaviour portray the image that you want to have?

Just remember that you, and you alone, are the queen of your life. Rule wisely.

It is up to you to choose who you want to be then to behave yourself into that role. Remember your greatness. Live your greatness.
